Rice is one of the most important crops throughout the world, as it contributes toward satisfying the food demand of much of the global population. It is well known that rice production generates a considerable number of by-products, among which rice bran deserves particular attention. This by-product is exceptionally rich in nutrients, since it contains a wide spectrum of macronutrients

Rice bran oil is recommended by the World Health Organization as one of the three major healthy edible oils (along with corn and sesame oils), owing to its unique fatty acid composition and functional components. This study screened, organized, and analyzed a large number of studies retrieved through keyword searches, and investigated the nutritional value and safety of rice bran oil. It

One significant byproduct of the rice milling industry is rice bran oil (RBO), which contains a range of phytochemicals with potential uses in food, medicine, and cosmetics (Lemus et al., 2014). 90%–96% of the crude RBO is composed of saponifiable lipids, whereas 4% is made up of unsaponifiable lipids.

In this technology, the cell tissue of rice bran is hydrolyzed with protease and then oil is released to achieve the purpose of oil extraction (Hanmoungjai et al. 2001). In a previous study, Chen (2014) used alkaline protease to extract oil from rice bran and determined the optimal process parameters.

Their results show that it is possible to obtain a maximum oil yield of 20.05 g/100 g rice bran in a three-hour extraction in ethanol with 6% of water at 82.5 °C, with a 4
FAQ
- QHow is rice bran oil extracted?AThe rice bran oil extracted with hexane extraction (HE), cold-pressed extraction (CPE), supercritical fluid carbon dioxide extraction (SF-CO 2 ), and subcritical liquefied DME extraction (SUBLDME). Table 2.
- QWhich crude rice bran oil has the highest phenolic content?AThe crude rice bran oil extracted using subcritical liquefied dimethyl ether extraction produced the highest total phenolic contents and antioxidant activities. The highest γ-oryzanol content of the crude rice bran oil was found in oil extracted by conventional cold press (1370.43 mg/100 g).
- QAre you a factory?AYes, we are a factory, and we also have Overseas Trading Department, our oil processing machines have been sold all over the world.
- QHow to increase oil yield of rice bran?AThe oil yield can be increased by increasing the temperature of 70oC, pressure above 500 bar and extraction time. A yield of 22.2% of oil per kg rice bran was obtained by SC-CO2 extraction at 45oC and pressure of 35 MPa . However, this technology has some limitation because of its high cost of equipment. 5. Sub-critical fluids extraction
- QCan -oryzanol be extracted from rice bran oil?AAll the here reported green extraction techniques allow a high-quality rice bran oil and high concentrations of γ-oryzanol to be obtained and show comparable yields with the extraction methods that employ hexane.
- QWhich solvent is used for rice bran oil extraction?AThe extraction yield was higher when using ethyl acetate as the solvent. Rice bran (RB) oil extraction was performed by applying renewable solvents like ethanol and ethyl acetate. To assess the interaction of these solvents with the oil, the UNIFAC model was chosen to determine the infinite dilution activity coefficient.
- QDoes rice bran oil have cholesterol-lowering nutraceuticals?AThe green extraction method of subcritical liquefied dimethyl ether extraction gave the crude rice bran oil high levels of cholesterol-lowering nutraceuticals, including γ-oryzanol, phytosterol, and policosanol, compared with conventional hexane extraction.
